The Marci Memo on: Hair Care with Iles Formula

I got my hair done recently and my hairdresser told me about this Iles Formula Haute Performance Set that she started using while she was out on maternity leave and said it did wonders for her hair. So of course I ordered it from Sephoraas soon as I got home. It was a little pricey, but I figured if it really started repairing my hair and made it healthy it was totally worth it. I get my hair highlighted about every 6 weeks and I have fine, darker blonde hair that can sometimes be on the thinner side, which makes it hard to grow out, especially with styling it almost every day during the week.

I posted a poll on Instagram asking if you guys would want to see a review of the Iles Formula treatment system after a few weeks and got a huge response of YES! Thank you guys!

First, I will say that the full size set is pricey, at $116 (it does include all three products though plus a wide tooth comb), but they also have a travel kit available for $28.50 which isn’t bad and you’ll be able to see if you like it and want to invest in the full size set or better yet wait for the big sale Sephora has and purchase then!

The set itself comes with three products: shampoo, conditioner and a serum. I love that it doesn’t contain any  parabens. sulfates, phthalates, silicone or allergens. It’s formulated to repair split ends, dullness and rough texture and contains silk proteins to add volume and body to the hair. All three products have slight floral scent, but I found that it was not overpowering or “flowery”. The serum smelled the strongest, but again not something that bothered me at all.

After using these products exclusively for the last few months, I am a forever fan. My hair has been growing and is healthier than it has been in years. I also found a solution for my blonde, I add in the IGK Mixed Feelings Leave-In Blonde Drops to the serum, to ensure my blonde stays bright since I am not using purple shampoo, and they are amazing!

Shampoo

The instructions advice to use a small amount and to add a bit of water if you aren’t getting much lather. I found that to be true after I used a little bit bigger than a quarter size amount. I’ve always noticed that with sulfate free shampoos they don’t lather up much. After rinsing I ended up shampooing again and it was a lot better – I think I just had a lot of product build up and I use a ton of dry shampoo during the week so that did the trick! I noticed that even after just shampooing my hair was almost completely detangled and didn’t feel dry or stringy at all which was a huge plus.

Conditioner

Next, I applied the conditioner. I used a bit more than a quarter sized amount and ran it through my hair from scalp to ends and brushed through with the included wide tooth comb. After that I used a bit more and applied directly to the ends, twisted it up and clipped it while I finished the rest of my shower to really let it soak in. It rinsed really well and my hair felt soft and silky after. I always finish off my shower with cold water to seal my hair cuticles as well and add extra shine – I’ve found this really helps.

Serum

To start drying my hair I always use a special towel turban, I’ve used this one by Aquis before, but usually grab for the original Turbie Twist which is a bit cheaper on Amazon. After about 10 minutes I took it down and used a pea-sized amount of the serum from mid-shaft to the ends and then applied another very small amount to just the ends. The serum does have a stronger fragrance than the shampoo and conditioner, but again not bothersome and I actually like it, it smells very salon-y, for lack of a better word. I was able to use my wet brush and comb through my hair right after and had no tangles at all! The serum itself has a bit thicker consistency than say moroccan oil. It’s also a nearly opaque, pearly white color.

Initial Thoughts

So here’s the best part. I then blow dried my hair on the coolest setting and it was completely dry in less than 90 seconds. That never happens! Again I have finer hair, but it still usually takes a while, I think the serum REALLY helped with the drying time, I was amazed. I use the T3 Featherweight 2 Dryer and I absolutely love it. This one is on sale at Sephora and there is a newer version as well.

Already I can see that it definitely brightened my hair and it feels soft and smooth. I took a before photo earlier today and can’t wait to show and tell you guys what I think after a few weeks. I only wash my hair twice a week, so I am thinking of giving it 6-8 weeks and letting you know my final thoughts. Let me know if you have any questions in the meantime!
